Effectiveness of deconta air purifier R150 in classrooms confirmed by scientific study - november 2020
"The use of air cleaning devices made it possible to reduce the particle concentration by up to 77 %", confirms Dr. Matthias Kaul, scientific director of the study and employee at the Institute for Particle Technology.
In the course of the study, an almost square 140 m³ classroom with 15 pupils and 3 adults was chosen. Two R150 air purifiers from deconta with F7 pre-filters, H14 main filters, sound insulation and switchable UV-C lamp were installed on the side walls of the room. In order to maintain the pupils' ability to concentrate, the air purifiers operated at 50% reduced output, which corresponds to a sound level of 55 dB at a volume flow of approx. 500 m³/h each.
"Starting from a previously determined undiminished basic load of 140 particles/cm³, the use of two R150 air purifiers with half the output power enabled us to measure a constant concentration of 32 particles/cm³ on average, which corresponds to a 77% reduction compared to the basic load", explains Dr. Kaul.
"It is well known that the risk of infection as well as the severity of the potential outbreak of COVID-19 disease also decreases with decreasing viral load in the air. From this point of view, the use of air purification units can be a useful supplement to regular room ventilation, especially in the cold season", confirms Christian Krolle, Managing Director of deconta.
