The SCHAUENBURG FOUNDATION supports academic projects, encourages young people in their vocational training and champions social and cultural projects in Mülheim-Ruhr.
ACCEPTING SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
The SCHAUENBURG FOUNDATION was started in 1986 by Hans-Georg Schauenburg, founder of the SCHAUENBURG group, which has now been active for over 50 years and is based in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany. The focus of the Schauenburg-Foundation, which is administratered by the independent Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft (Association of German Industry for the promotion of Science and Humanities), reflects the close connection of the international SCHAUENBURG group to its roots and with scientific and technical innovation.
COMMITMENT TO THE REGION AND PROMOTION OF PROGRESS.
The SCHAUENBURG FOUNDATION supports academic projects, focusing primarily on the fields of engineering, economics and the social sciences.
For example, since 1990, the Foundation has been giving out awards geared towards the promotion of up-and-coming technological and scientific talent in the region. Each award is worth 500 euros, and they are given out annually to trainees in recognition of outstanding achievements by the IHK Ruhr (Ruhr Chamber of Industry and Commerce). The winners are chosen by the IHK.
The Mülheim-based Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences is another institution in receipt of long-term support from the SCHAUENBURG Foundation. Since 2013, within the framework of the German national scholarship scheme, the Foundation has been supporting three scholarships for students in the fields of mathematics, IT, the sciences and engineering.
THE BIONIC AWARD
2008 was the year of the first international Bionic Award, worth 10,000 euros. Bionics often generates fresh ideas and serves as a stimulus for innovation, with sustainable benefits for technology, the economy and society as a whole. The SCHAUENBURG Foundation uses this award to support practically oriented research and development work and innovations by talented young scientists in the field of bionics. The award is given out every other year.
