I can really grow here: What I particularly like about my job at Schauenburg International is its versatility. In 2017, I was given the opportunity to restructure the Corporate Development division. As a project manager, I am directly involved in shaping changes: for example, we examine how well a company could fit with us, draft contracts, shed light on legal issues, assist with integration or help when commercial processes are not yet running smoothly. I like the dynamics with which we make decisions, sometimes rejecting them but always looking at things from different perspectives. The fact that as a young employee in an open corporate culture I get the chance to participate in many things without rigid hierarchies inspired me at Schauenburg International right from the beginning during my studies. I joined Schauenburg International in 2015 as an accountant between my bachelor’s degree in economics at the Ruhr-University Bochum and the start of my master’s degree. That was good for understanding commercial processes from the bottom up and still helps me a lot today. Because I wanted to combine my master’s degree with working, I was offered a four-day week and a scholarship from the Schauenburg Foundation. So I was able to combine study and work in an excellent way. Schauenburg International is a company in which I can grow: currently, our team is pushing the digitalisation of processes in accounting alongside current M&A projects. In other projects, I work closely with colleagues from the HR, Communications and Financial Controlling departments. I am sure that there are still many exciting tasks awaiting me here.

Even as a student trainee at SCHAUENBURG MASCHINEN UND ANLAGEN-BAU GMBH, it became clear to me that this medium-sized company was where I wanted to work after graduation. I was and still am inspired by the management’s readiness to promote creative ideas and innovations. I have a varied job that constantly challenges me in new ways – it’s no wonder I’m able to identify with the company and take pleasure in my day-to-day work.

There’s always a way: On 15 August 2015, my life changed forever: I was 15 years old and arrived in Passau with a group of other young people. The long nightly walks and journeys in trucks through numerous countries were now behind us. Leaving my homeland Afghanistan, my family and my childhood friends behind was hard. But that day, I knew this was my chance. I successfully completed secondary school; maths and English were easy for me, and I learned German quickly. Through various internships, my desire grew to learn a commercial profession in a technical environment. I looked for suitable jobs on the Internet every day after school. I applied for a traineeship as an industrial clerk at C+L Industrietechnik in Nuremberg and am now in my second year of training. I go to evening school part-time to complete my vocational baccalaureate diploma. I am currently working in production management, helping with the allocation of production orders, where I am able to be creative as well as organised. My next stages will be logistics, quality assurance, sales and project management – all very exciting and varied. My colleagues and above all my trainer made it easy for me to start my professional life through their open nature. I'm really pleased about that. I want to stay on the ball and study after my apprenticeship or continue my education elsewhere: the combination of economy and technology is exactly the right thing for me. C+L Industrietechnik gives me many prospects for further development. I am optimistic that I will succeed, because the last few years have shown me one thing: there’s always a way.
